Welcome to the Lucky Duck "57" website

Any slightly strange content found on this website is the sole responsibility of Carl Bromley and a faith-friendly fertile imagination. Bromley grew up in Mercer County (PA) near Fredonia and currently resides with his wife and two fur babies in New Castle, PA. His recent exploration of AI has come up with some interesting results, three on this page.

AI #1: The Lucky Duck Awards ceremony is fictional as if you couldn't easily tell. The image above is an example of Generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) which we promise to use for good purposes only including, but not limited to entertaining you and more website visitors.  The "Lucky Ducks" we have started to identify are those who show up on Carl's radar needing help and, with God's guidance, will receive some type of help directly from Carl or, through teamwork, indirectly through Carl.

Opportunities:  Watch on this website for opportunities to help yourself, also to join our growing team of volunteers for helping others. If nothing else, you can buy one of our "More Blessed than Lucky" shirts from our online store. What you spend in our online store will support our ongoing efforts. Thank you.

Important note to our website visitors:

Updated 8/3/26 by Carl: As a frequently successful problem-solver and storyteller, I'll offer a caution and apology. If you spend too much time reading this, you might need to check your priorities and adjust. As we see them, we will fill gaps where content doesn't flow easily from one section to the next. If you have suggestions, please share them.

A different type of gap: Once I interviewed a gentleman who fancied himself as a combination CTO and interim CEO for our company mostly because he helped with a $4M website upgrade. Re 'gaps', if he had better communication skills, it might have cost only $3M. I'm thinking about doing a video to tell the story, want to help?

Here's the thing: I very much enjoy telling stories that have a lesson worth sharing. Apologizing in advance is one of many things I do that others don't understand. If you understand that much of how God made me, thank you."

Creativity mishmash?

As a combo geek+nerd and having survived seven decades plus a few years (I'm 75), it seems my creativity knows no bounds. My creative juices never stop flowing. I see this website as a doodle pad, a unique community service, and online store all in one.

Definitely out of the ordinary:

  1. When people tell me "Nice to meet you", I assure them it's ok to change their mind when they get to know me.
  2. I thank people for not hiding when they see me coming.
  3. When I thank someone and they respond with "No, thank YOU!", I suggest that a better response would be "Thank you, too." with a smile. The "NO" part of what they are saying erases my thank you and I offered my thank you for a reason, to show my appreciation.

Why 57?

Growing up in southwestern PA where Heinz 57 originated, I can't be sure whether using the number 57 is a tribute to Henry J. Heinz and his '57 Varieties' of condiments or just Heinz Ketchup, still a western PA favorite almost 100 years later. I'm sure God knows but He's not telling.

God Nudges: I've been the recipient of 'God Nudges' more than once but what are the odds on me having '57 stories'.  Watch our LuckyDuck57 blog and elsewhere on the website. There's not enough room for them here on the front page!

Expected updates: As we move forward, we plan to list 57 especially lucky ducks... not just a list of names - we'll be telling a lot of "lucky duck" stories.

Sample story: Raquel and the Granddaddy Crawdad - 1-2 minutes reading time.

A quick example of a lucky duck story...

My nephew Justin grew up in the city and didn't really know how country boys could catch crawdads with their bare hands.  While I was teaching him, a young lady friend of the family, 3 1/2 yr old Raquel, said she wanted to hold one. I promised her she could hold the next one I caught.  How could I know THEN that it would be a great big 'granddaddy' crawdad that I'd catch next.  I actually thought about letting it go and look for another baby.

Long story made short, I did catch that granddaddy crawdad and I showed her how to hold it so it couldn't pinch her. She held it for a bit and then her little hand started shaking, then both of them, then both arms went out and she let go. I only saw where it went because it was crawling towards the creek.  I think I'll do a video (if I can get a volunteer to play her part).  The rest of the day we all heard from her... "Guess what I did!" "Guess what I did!" "Guess what I did!" to anyone who would listen. I consider Justin a Lucky Duck, but Raquel was the #1 Lucky Duck that day!

BONUS: Carl's Idea Hatchery, Logo Lab, and Business Incubator!

Starting many years ago as an innovative problem-solver, I kept busy doing a lot for school, church and community.  In 1967, I played a significant role in our Grange ritual team winning a state championship.  The same year, I wrote bylaws for two new clubs at Lakeview High School (Stoneboro, PA), the Bible Club and the Chess Club.  Our band director asked me to be drum major for our school's 96-member marching band while he was on sabbatical leave. In that role, I directed on-the-field-early-morning practices and designed roughly two thirds of the football halftime shows.

Many years later as a sole proprietor, I had one invention qualify for "Patent Pending" status, The same year, i came up with a business name that closely fit my diverse interests. I registered the name as a DBA ("doing business as") by filing with the Pennsylvania Department of State in 2023. I appreciate your interest in the website and hope I can help you in one or more ways. Say hi to Carl's Idea Hatchery, Logo Lab, and Business Incubator.

Ducklings with Dimples - books for children

Recently released! Carl Bromley's first children's book Ducklings with Dimples for Toddlers is ready and filled with characters we're sure you will love.  Available as a flipbook and also in MP4 format, the audio acts as a pinch hitter (aka storyteller) so you adults can get your chores done or just relax.

In the MP4 version which is narrated by the author himself, two bonuses are announced early - before the book begins.  In the flipbook at the bottom of page 9, you will find the first bonus.  At the bottom of page 10 is #2.  At the very end of the book, bonus #3 directs you to a web page where you can pick a bonus and then keep it or trade it in.  It's fun for the kids, fun for you and hopefully fun for EVERYONE!

Business Services for individuals, nonprofits and businesses

While LinkedIn is one of Carl's favorite social media platforms, it's fair to warn readers that his personal profile is linked to two company pages and more than a few 'showcase pages'. Several options are available in the categories of digital products/graphics and DIY mentoring.
